Two horizons
of AI
"We'll use AI" is two different promises on two different clocks, and mixing them is how AI plans lose credibility. This page separates them: the near-term AI that makes the portal worth opening — and produces the data — and the AI on that data that becomes the business. One earns the daily open now; the other is the ceiling it builds toward. (The asset itself — the intelligence stack the portal fills — is set out in "Where This Is Going." This page is only about the AI on top of it.)
Horizon 1 · now · earns the open
AI in the product
Makes the portal worth opening on a quiet day — and every use produces the behavioural signal the second horizon runs on. Ships inside v1/v2.

Horizon 2 · the ceiling · becomes the business
AI on the data
Turns the accumulated first-party data into insight brands and federations pay for. Not a day-one feature — the reason day one matters.
same data, two payoffs — Horizon 1 collects it and earns the habit; Horizon 2 sells what it becomes
The two horizons, in detail
What each horizon actually ships
Why the order matters: Horizon 1 is not a warm-up. It's what gives a fan a reason to open the portal on a quiet, fixture-less day — the hardest retention problem this product has — and it's the only thing that produces the data Horizon 2 needs. You cannot skip to the business.
Horizon 1 · near-term · AI in the product
AI makes the portal worth opening
- Follow-your-athlete summaries — an AI recap the moment a followed player finishes (the PGA's most-used feature — proven model).
- Personalisation — the feed and reminders tuned to real behaviour, not guesses.
- Smart alerts — the right moment, the right match, in Gulf time.
Horizon 2 · the ceiling · AI on the data
AI turns the data into the product
- Audience intelligence — patterns, segments and demand signals brands and federations pay for.
- Predictive insight — what's growing, who's rising, where attention moves next in MENA women's sport.
- The moat — insight a competitor outside the region has to work hard to match, because they don't have the source (first-mover, not structural).
Say both, in order, and the AI story holds up: Horizon 1 earns the daily open and collects the data; Horizon 2 turns that data into the business.
Near-term AI ships inside the vehicle; the intelligence ceiling compounds behind it. Not a day-one feature — the reason day one matters.
